Help with thumbnail on posts

Dear fellow users,
On my blog I would like the posts on the frontpage to be shown as a small resume instead of it being the entire article, since the page then tends to get very long..
In addition I would also like to use thumbnails with each post like viewed on this screenshot: https://www.seoadsensethemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/screenshot-1.jpg
Can anyone recommend me a nice way of doing this? I have not been able to find anything useful on Google.
