wordpress isnt working

  • Hi – I want to build a new wordpress theme for my website so I’ve transfered my domain to hostgator. I had an existing host and website that hasnt been touched for almost 10 years. I don’t even know what the passwords are and the hosting (with the original company) is almost negligable. Anyway, I did’nt transfer the domain to hostgator, I just paid for them to host it. Now when I’ve tried to download wordpress and attach it to my domain name I just get the original webpage which wont allow me attach a wordpress template. I’m in wp-admin but I still cant do anything. Can anyone help please? Thanks

  • Are you up for a workaround? Here is what I am suggesting based on my understanding of the question:

    Why don’t you download your website locally and install the theme locally and then upload the entire WordPress website with the template to your new hosting via FTP?
