• I marked one row of unused meta data, left behind by an already removed plugin, in the ‘Post’ bulk editor, then right-clicked, and selected delete from the menu. But not the one meta field was gone. No, all my posts were gone. All of them. When using this tool to clean up your database, you will backup before every step you do, and test after step you did.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

I want to clarify that our plugin provides a contextual menu in the spreadsheet, so you can right click on a column and delete the meta field. But there is also an option to delete the selected rows.

In this case, it’s very likely that the user selected “Delete row” by mistake instead of selecting “Delete field”. So the plugin deleted the selected rows as the user requested.

We show warnings before these actions and even mention that they should make a backup if they want to revert this change later, so this is very likely a user error if the user accepted the warning.
