I recently migrated website to hetzner cloud server.
The website is controlled from a linux server which I have manged to get up and running without any problems now.

For the life of me cannot get email to work. I have tried all kinds of solutions including editing my spf, setting up smtp and others. I have asked hetzner for help, but as it’s a vps server they do not provide any customer support.
Any experts here who could help me out? it’s crucial for my website to have functioning email.

  • Hetzner blocks ports 25 and 465 by default on ALL cloud servers. After a month and paying your first bill, you can send a request (with justification) for these ports to be unblocked (Ref).

Note that 587 is not blocked, so if you’re using an external SMTP service, you can use 587 if your SMTP provider supports it.

But you also want to make sure your Hetzner Cloud firewall (if configured) isn’t blocking the traffic.

And if you use a transactional service provider’s API with normal HTTPS traffic over 443, you should not have any issues.

Found out my previous webhosts email wasn’t compatible with hetzner so i was unable to send email throught their webservers. Fixed it by switching email to hetzner.
