Hidden field – reference number for two forms

I have two forms and both forms are very similar. For both forms I need a reference number and I used the sequential number as it looks best and easy for entrant to remember. The problem I’m facing now is that the sequential numbers started at 1000 on both forms and now the reference number for an entrant on the one form is the same as an entrant on the other form.
1. Is there not a way to combine fields e.g. use sequential number + first name as the hidden field.
2. Or can I set the starting point for the one form to a different number than the other form e.g. 5000 instead of 1000?
