Isn’t the .htaccess file supposed to be hidden? How come I can see mine in my Hosting File Manager and SFTP client? And how do I hide it?

If the file name has a dot in front of it, it’s hidden.

Most SFTP clients and File Managers have a setting to “Show invisible files.” There is nothing wrong with that, you’re able to see the file in your file manager, because how else will you edit it as needed? ??

Ok thanks. So to clarify, when documentation refers to “hidden files,” what this means is they are hidden to others by default, but not the admin, is this correct?

Not exactly, it means they are hidden, but that you can see them if you use an SFTP client or file manager with “display hidden files” on in that SFTP client or file manager’s settings.
