Hide featured image on single page

Google has been showing single placemarks pages and when you go to those pages, it displays a larger pixelated marker which looks bad.

What is the best method to hide the featured image. For now I used CSS to hide the image. .blog_holder article .post_image img { display: none }

If I can hide the page from showing on google, that would work too.
