hide header media on front page

Hi, I’ve searched the forum and found info on hiding header media. However, none of it seems to work.

I know how to add my own style of header media and want to, but I can’t get rid of the padding between the header main and the main page content which contains the header media (of which there is none, but the padding still exisits). I want the page contents to be at the header bottom border with no gap.

Any help would be appreciated. Can you advise how you found the information too so maybe I can learn how to achieve this myself, if it’s not many steps.
