Hide (or fix) calendar options when there are no events

Right now I have no events to display. The calendar is set to default view of Posterboard.

With no events listed, it shows a text list of view options that show pop up text when you mouse over them. Then it lists out all the subscribe options in a text list too.

I would like those lists to disappear when no events are available and just say, “There are no upcoming events to display at this time.” It does say that, but it also has all this other confusing junk around it.

I deactivated all other plugins to see if that affected. It did not help at all.
