Hide Pageviews column for non-admins
-
How can I remove the column for everyone except the admin? I tried every code on the internet that I could find but non could remove burst’s column from the table ??

I don’t want to use any plugin to remove it, it’s just one column.
Hi @mukaaartz,
This is not available yet. We do have something that might help. In the upcoming release we have added our permissions function to hide or show the column based on user capabilities. Only users with the ‘view_burst_statistics’ capability can view the Burst Dashboard, the dashboard widget and the pageviews column.
You can download this version from our GitHub.
By default we give the editor role and the administrator the ‘view_burst_statistics’ capability. Only the administrator roles receive the’manage_burst_statistics’ capability by default.
So you still need to remove the capabilities from the editor role. If you need help, let me know.
I hope this helps. Let me know if this solved your issue or you need more assistance. We’re happy to help ??
Kind regards,

Hi @mukaaartz,
The latest version of Burst also contains these changes, so you don’t have to download it from our GitHub.
Let me know if you need further assistance, we’re happy to help!
Kind regards,
HesselHi, thank you for the support!
I had downloaded the GitHub version and wanted to test it before getting back to you. It did the job for now (I’ll swap it with the official release) but it would be better to have an option on the settings page to choose the capability. Maybe next week, I decide that I want to give authors just the page view column (not the whole analytics) so they can see how their posts are doing and what topics they can cover more based on performance.
Also other three requests I have:
1. Please make the statistics page link to the actual statistics page and not the frontpage/dashboard with the live counter. It looks more like a settings page so maybe separate them and push settings under the settings admin menu. I like the way Koko analytics does it, you are not always seeing enable/disable cookies or contact here, etc and your analytics is just one click away.
2. Also maybe put a live view counter on the dashboard widget as well so users can see it the moment they login. Yesterday, I logged in to update WordPress but I forgot to check the analytics and there were people live on the site.
3. Please change the page view column name to just “views” bcz it appears on other post types as well not just pages so views sounds more logical here.
The rest of it is perfect ??
Oh almost forgot about this

could you plz make the arrow a little closer to the text? It’s hella annoying :/
Thank you!

Hi @mukaaartz,
Cool! As of now we won’t make a difference in capabilities between viewing the columns or viewing the burst dashboard.
As for the other requests, the design will change a little bit for version 1.3.0 The dashboard page will be an overview on what is happening on your website at the moment. This also shows warnings about the tracking script. We’ve moved the settings to a separate page. We will keep the dashboard as the first page you open. I think you’ll understand (maybe grow to love) our decision when you see version 1.3.0.
The idea for the live counter is in the WordPress Dashboard is good. I will think about that when we will redesign that.
That’s a good idea. It’s also shorter which is better as well. I have changed Pageviews to Views in the columns for the upcoming release 1.3.0.
The arrows will be gone for version 1.3.0. We changed the library we use for datatables. The arrow looks a lot better now.
Thank you for your input. It helps us out tremendously We collect all our ideas as a feature request on our website. You can add them ” rel=”noopener” target=”_blank”>here as separate feature requests. If you don’t want to add them yourself, let me know and I’ll add them.
Kind regards,
HesselHi @hesseldejong,
The new UI sounds amazing, I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it as you said ??
If you need any inspiration for the design, I really like splitbee analytics. It’s so simple to look at but very powerful. Maybe you can take some inspiration from it.
I didn’t get you on the last paragraph. Are you asking me to submit a feature request on the website? Umm, if you like the ideas just note them, you don’t need voting on them I guess.
Thank you for the amazing support!
Hi @mukaaartz,
I will definitely take a look at Splitbee analytics.
I was indeed asking you to submit them on our website If you wanted. But I offered to post them for you if you wanted. I’ll post them next monday ??
Thank you for your help in making Burst a better plugin.
Kind regards,
Hessel -
