  • Hi Dorys,

We are working on Smooth Slider update, which would go with slide expiry date feature. As we are upgrading all our slider plugins athttps://slidervilla.com/ , it will take some time and we will release Smooth Slider update by mid of next month.

Will it be fine if we give you customized copy of Smooth Slider fulfilling your requirement for the time being? Please send a note regarding your requirements and I will get you customized folder by mid of next week, it will be free of charge of course. It would be great if we get some inputs/suggestions for Smooth Slider before releasing update so that we can make it a better product for the users.

Thanks for your patience and waiting for your response.

    Best Regards,
    Sagar.

Thank you so much. I would be happy to test an advanced copy for you. I’ve already replied to your tech support from your website with the features I’d like to see implemented for others reading this thread… it would be nice to see a shortcode option similar to this.

Hi! I wish I could make Smooth Slider work with Events Manager in order to show upcoming events on a widget as slides using those events’s featured images.

Ideally it should show the upcoming events only, NOT the past events, and feed AUTOMATICALLY, without having to tick a box each time. Each slide would expire once the event has finished.

Is it possible ? How ?

We are working on an update to Smooth Slider which will definitely cover this point, the update will go live by 18’th of this month.

Thanks for your patience @dorysp and @spespam

    Best Regards.

    Hi Slidervilla,

Any chance for Smooth Slider to cover this point ?

    Hi Slidervilla,

Any update on having the expired events drop off the slider automatically? I currently have to remember to go in and mark the expired events as drafts so they don’t show up anymore. Not very efficient.

    Hello there,

We have released an update of Smooth Slider v2.8. In which we have added “Expiry date” feature for Custom slider. Now you can set expiry date to any slide of Smooth slider, after expiry date, slide will not appear in slider.

You will find expiry date option here: Go to Admin panel => Edit section post/page => Below description, you will find post meta box of Smooth slider => Advance tab => Expiry date.

Let me know if it helps.
    Thank you,

    Best Regards,
    Sagar.

Thank you very much for your effort but it’s not actually what I was expecting.
The interest is to make everything automatic, without having to set an expiry date.
For example, if an event is entered by a user (using Events Manager plugin), the user set the date of the event himself (let’s say for example October 29th 2015).
Once the event has been entered, Smooth Slider will automatically display it on the homepage UNTIL October 29th 2015. The day after, Smooth Slider removes automatically the event from the slides.
I don’t know if you can release this but it would be awesome if you could ??

I just updated the plugin to the latest version, yet it still does not remove past events. Has this been implemented and if so, is there a shortcode paramenter that needs to be set?

I’ve finally figured out how to implement this but it is not working. I added an expiry date to the event but the event is still showing up in the slider.

As spespam mentioned above, this was not the functionality I was looking for either. I was hoping that smoothslider would query only future events so that a past event would drop off automatically. With the amount of people I have adding events to our site, there is no way to train them to remember to add an expiry date in the advanced tab of smooth slider which shows up at the very bottom of the page.

Sorry. but it looks like I will not be able to use this plugin for now.
