Hide Site Title Under Header

I recently switched from wordpress.com and one thing I can’t seem to figure out is how to hide the site title behind the header. My theme, Simple & Pure, allows me to upload a header image, but still shows the site title text over it. I don’t want to delete the site title, but how can I get it to now show up?

I have tried multiple suggestions on here (including adding display:none in various places) and can’t seem to get anything to work. For now, I have changed the font size to 0 to reduce it to a small white box so the header can be seen, but I would like to delete it completely.
