Hide subfolder from image links

Hi there,

I have WordPress installed at:

https://www.mydomain.com/newsite and the site url is https://www.mydomain.com

Currently, when viewing the source code, new image links include newsite/wp-content/uploads/myimage.jpg

any idea how to hide this? Could I use .htaccess somehow so the user only sees /wp-content/uploads/myimage.jpg
