• Hi there. I have two user roles which each have varying display and activity permissions on Ultimate Member. To split the logins I added the User Role Dropdown onto the main login form.
My two Custom User Roles do show up in this drop down but so does the default User Role of ‘register’. I know that this is going to confuse Users of the site – as they will think they need select the ‘register’ as their default role while Registering. Is there any way to hide the default the role. (Using the Default role as one of my custom roles was not successful as it also listed it as ‘register’ ignoring the actual name it was given)

If anyone out there in knows how to do it, I’d sure appreciate a shout back. Thanks

okay thanks. it makes sense – but mine reads like this:

“Hide if {list of other fields} not equals {value}.”

there is just one field i need to hide for one user group. as the secondary user group cannot edit their profiles, so without editing capabilities they wont see the other fields anyway. the one that shows up has pre-defined text inside it

If the community role is not showing up as a field to hide, add it to the form but make it visible only to Admin. Sorry for not mentioning that in my last reply; I had to revisit my form and review the settings. This is how I’m currently able to accomplish something similar. You expose the community role only to Admin, which brings it out as an option within the conditional fields support and lets you show/hide certain fields on the user profile form depending on the community role.

Add the predefined UM field community role to your user profile form and set it up like this:

Then adjust the field that you want to hide in a manner like this:

Ah yes, I found that just after replying to you. This all said, it hides the field but also takes it away from public view – as UM doesn’t see a ‘Guest’ as a user of any sort. So I can make the field viewable to Admins and Primary Users, exclude the Secondar User and unfortunately, Guests (who actually need to see it). If I add secondary users as excluded (hide) it does it for all.

do you know if there’s any way to hide a secondary user group? the secondary users only require a login for certain functions and do not need access to nor see a Profile of their own. I think this would solve all of my worldly problems…

Its been a fun day… so I’ve done a few workarounds to get to the bottom of the issues (or weirdness of UM). The field that was showing up for the secondary user had pre-defined text in it. So removed that and placed in a Placeholder text. Removed any ability for the secondary user to update / add to / add photos to their profiles and added default image for users without an Avatar. So the secondary user still has access to their profile, but now only for the purposes of reading Messages they may have been sent. To get around the login / sign up issue I was having, I added the secondary login button and assigned this to a different Registration Form than the Primary Users use and labeled the button accordingly. The secondary sign up form is only accessed if a secondary user tries to add a review or message a Primary User. All fields, now, on the secondary Profile are no longer visible, but admin can see hidden fields (Age) for the secondary Users (Age is a requirement of the site). Phew – got there. A huge thanks mate, two brains are better than one and you were a huge help today. Really appreciate it. Thanks again ??

Great! You’re very welcome and I’m glad I was of some help.
