    Hi,

I have hired a web developer to put some tables in my site and he says something I would like done cannot be done in TablePress so I thought I would double check.

This is the draft table that has been developed (yet to be finished!).

On the first tab (i.e. ‘Does Invest’ you will see that the in the first row AMP Bank is listed. In the third column titled ‘Position’ you will see there is a statement which is 25 words long. I would like it so that only 10 words appear and there is a ‘More’ button (or something like this) in the cell that people can click on to expand the cell and see the full statement.

I would like this because some other statements I will add will be 50-100 words and I don’t want table dominated by text.

Is this possible? Is there a plugin that will allow me to do this?

    Thanks,

    Govind

I am not a web developer and I have done my best to look through the FAQs and support documentation to see if this question has already been answered. I don’t think it has but sorry if I have missed a response somewhere.

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a directly usable solution, but this should not be a problem. It’s actually not directly a problem with TablePress. As TablePress treats the content of table cells as text, it’s no problem to use HTML code in the cells. You could therefore use any solution that works outside of tables as well. For example, you could wrap the “teaser” content in an HTML tag, and the “rest” in another. Then, you could use some JavaScript code to register a click on a “Show more” link and show/hide the HTML tags as necessary.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thank you for the prompt response Tobias. You have helped me manage the build of the table much better. I will forward this response on to my web developer.

Also, thanks for providing your great plugin. I will definitely ask my manager for permission to make a donation to you so you can keep up the great work.

    Thanks,

    Govind
