    Hi
I have a custom user role where the user uploads a few images to their own profile which is viewable on the front end.?
I don’t want these images to appear in the Media Library when any other role is editing the site.? I don’t want any other role (admin, editor, contributor) to view or accidentally edit those images in admin.

Can anyone give me advice on how I should approach this, whether it’s a plugin or custom code? ?I thought about uploading to a different directory but it seems permissions would be the correct approach. Any guidance much appreciated..
    thanks!

    Thanks for your reply bdbrown,
I’ve been scratching my head over this for a while now and just can’t get it to work.
This code works so that one editor can’t see another editors’ uploads. But I need it to be role specific. So the role of editor can’t see any uploads by my custom role.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

i have a similar concern: I’ve added upload_files capability to subscribers so they can upload an avatar, but now that grants them access to the media library which I don’t want. Wish there was a way to upload a photo without using wordpress’ media uploader / library.
