Hello! I had a question regarding recipe keywords – currently I have the keywords displaying in the recipe card, but I was wondering if it would affect SEO/ranking of my post if I hide them from the template? Are there any consequences at all in hiding the keywords from the recipe card? Thanks in advance!

Feel free to remove those from the recipe card using the template editor.

In general, Google doesn’t like it when you have something in the metadata that isn’t actually displayed on the page. But we’ve checked and they confirmed that this is not an issue for the recipe keywords.

    Hi Brecht,

Thanks for your response – but after hiding the keywords from the template editor last night my post has been removed from the “Recipes” panel of Google search: https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=italian+meatballs+recipe&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safari_group=9

This post was ranking #1 before the change. Could you please confirm? I will have to revert it back if the change affected my rankings in hopes that it restores back to normal as this is critical to my business. Please let me know.

I’d be very surprised if that change was related. As mentioned, the metadata is separate from the recipe card layout, so that metadata wouldn’t have changed.

You could try reverting but I don’t see that making a difference.
