    Hello there,

I was looking for my full name on Google, and I noticed that one of the results is my profile here on www.ads-software.com.

As I didn’t want my full name to appear on www.ads-software.com, I chose a different nickname on the “Display name as” tab.

However, my profile shows my full name, whether or not I am logged-in. This means that even if my posts show a nickname, who is reading is able to look at my profile name. That’s why Google indexes my profile when googling my full name.

As choosing a nickname was the whole purpose of not showing my profile name, I was wondering if there is an effective way to hide my profile name and only make the nickname visible instead. Since I read there is no way to delete an account on www.ads-software.com, I hope there is an alternative solution to my problem.

    Thank you!

You can’t change your username, the most effective thing you can do is stop using your account.

    Hey Andrew,

Thanks for your reply. Are you saying that if I stop using my account this is going to disappear from Google?

Be allowed to change a display name but still be able to see the equivalente registered username from outside doesn’t defy the meaning of a display name?

Google does like webpages that link to other places, as long as you continue using your account to post on any thread it’ll continue to link to places. You could always raise this in Google’s forums: https://groups.google.com/forum/

What would you prefer the term “display name” to be replaced with?

Right now what the “Display name” does is showing a chosen name next to the posts you publish. So, to answer your question, “Name shown on posts” might be a more accurate description.

    Thanks for your assistance, Andrew!
