High Bounce rate, is my site slow or just unappealing?

  • Hi guys, ever since my website was set up 3 months ago the google analytics has been showing that anywhere between 70%-100% of the people that visit my website bounce off it before even reaching the webpage? And the only reason its that low is because ive visited it quite a lot.

    So please visit my website and let me know if you can help!

    My guess is that the webpage loads to slow? But ive done everything i can to speed it up e.g. “WP total cache”. I tried “WP Minify” but that messed up the website.

    Another reason could be because the website isnt attractive enough, so they just boucne of straight away?

    Really need help!

  • Really, really, really slow. 5-8 seconds consistently.

    You are loading a lot of scripts, a lot of css files, and a lot of images– some of them fairly large. See if you can’t reduce the image file sizes, the number of css files and look up css image sprites. That should help.

    Honestly, I’d see that big image slideshow/header thing and leave. I really very much don’t like those things. But that may just be me. They suck up resources and force me to scroll. Also, it looks like advertising even if it isn’t. I usually don’t feel like waiting for those (what I consider) gimmicky things to load before I get to the content. No offense. This may just be a personal quirk, but you did ask if the site was “just unappealing” so, to me, yes it is a bit unappealing.

    I saw a year or so ago you posted on StoreStacker and WP install. The thread is closed, but I have been trying to find out more about this product. I have seen videos from 2008 and numerous posts that it and BANS were thrown out of Google Seaches. Then I found a couple videos from late 2010 still selling the product. Was wondering a couple things.
    1) can it be used with a wp site
    2) if so, is it easy to use
    3) most importantly, does google kick it out of searches or does the use of StoreStacker inhibit your web site in any way?
    4) If it is “history”, then is there a new product that is accepted in today’s web?

    The videos really make a good sales pitch, but the fact that there is limited reviews for 3 years indicates it is – let’s say not to be used going forward. (I know this is not the subject you were replying to, but your post was the only one I thought I could trust).
