• The default code includes a very detailed and intrusive number of unnecessary fields at checkout, and this leads to cart abandonment.

There may be some css or php that disables the billing details, but although I’m very much used to digging out these snippets, I’ve spent a fruitless afternoon looking.

For a plugin meant to ease sale of digital products, it seems incomprehensible that the cart/checkout actively presents a barrier to purchase.

My visitors are motivated, they know the price and all details before they click on “buy now” but click away when presented with the mass of detail required of them. It should be a simple dashboard option to disable billing details.

  • You should look at using the Jilt integration for cart abandonment, it’s helped me recover some abandoned carts.

Also if you’re not familiar with code, reach out to a local developer to help you remove some fields on checkout. It may cost a couple of hundred $ but you should recover these costs quickly.

Some payment gateways may _require_ billing details and might not be able to remove or make these optional.

Here is a guide to unset billing fields you don’t need – https://docs.easydigitaldownloads.com/article/256-modifying-the-required-checkout-fields

PS – I don’t work for EDD just commenting on this as I stumbled across it and there’s no official reply.
