Why are the shipping rates so high with this plugin? For one item in my basket (that product being a padlock, which weighs 0.110 kg) the cheapest UPS rate is £28.96? This is based on UK delivery?

Just seems such a huge difference to what it would cost if we actually out it through UPS in which case we generally change around £10?

I have a licence for the premium version but have 3 sites in total so for the other two i’m having to use the free version.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @dctotallockout,

Can you please compare the rate with the UPS price calculator? Here is the link

Once you get the rates, if it does not match with the ones returned from UPS, kindly provide us the debug request and response so that we can immediately check this.
Here is a video that will help you to get the request and response.
Note : Make sure that you remove the account specific info from the request before sending us.

Just followed your instructions and these were the results, much cheaper.

    14.45 GBP *

    12.39 GBP *

    Guaranteed

    7.77 GBP *

Just to clarify this is in relation to the free plugin which I have installed on 2 sites. I know it is mainly for customers buying 1 item at a time which is what we usually get, but the prices just seem so much higher.

    Hi @dctotallockout,

If you can just share with us :
    – screenshot of the UPS calculator rates (we need the screenshot).
    – debug request and response as explained above, we can quickly resolve your problem.

    Hi @dctotallockout,

Thank you for the request and response. However, it seems that you did not remove the account specific information from the request. Anyways, I have got the details now. You can remove the complete request from here.

For this issue, I have approached UPS with this as even we are getting a rate of 28.96 in our demo site. As soon as UPS responds, I will get back to you.

    Hi @dctotallockout,

    No problem.
We will get back to you once we have a response.

    Hi @dctotallockout,

UPS replied to us the following :
    *************************************
Based on the information provided, General List Rates are returned from the Calculate Time and Cost page on UPS.com. Therefore you should pass a value of 3 to the PickupType node in your request to receive the same rate from the UPS Developer API.
    **************************************
As per UPS’s advice when we selected option “Rates Based On Pickup Type” and assigned this value to it “Customer Counter” as shown in the screenshot, then the rate came accurately as shown in the cart page screenshot here.

This option is however available in the premium plugin.
    Hope that helps!

Ok thanks for your help with this matter, it is much appreciated. I tested it on my site where I have the premium plugin and it is returning more accurate rates now after I changed the settings as per your screenshots.

It does make the free plugin pretty useless though because no one would be willing to pay such a high amount for 1 small item.

    Hi @dctotallockout,

Great to know that you are getting correct rates.
Would it be possible for you to rate us for our support here – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ups-woocommerce-shipping-method/#reviews

Regarding your concern on the free version, we are checking this and we will pass on this value in the latest version so that the rates reduce.
Hope that helps! Thanks for your feedback.
