Hijacking our dashboards?
-
Sorry, one star for that.
I ran updates and when I then open any of my main dashboards you’ve hijacked the entire admin area. Why? This is just not done. It has to be the most obnoxious WordPress admin area advertising I’ve seen yet.
Stay away from plugins that do things like this.
Update to my review, 10 July 2021:
Still one star, zero if I could.
While the likes of Yoast are pushing boundaries, and they at least offer tangible results, you guys have crossed the line and show no signs of ever re-thinking your business model. You now stand zero chance of ever getting one red cent out of me. Big red ‘inactive’ buttons and checks saying my site has ‘failed’ all sorts of ‘compliance’ rules is tacky and cheap. I’m busy ‘shopping’ for something else.
For what it’s worth, plugin authors who still follow the original WordPress model and who don’t have a premium version of their plugin stand a very good chance of getting money out of me.
We know about GDPR, but your way of shoving it down our throats, for a price, is not going to work, at least not with me, I promise you that much. Sure, everyone is entitled to earn a living, just not like this. But one plugin who has a perfectly acceptable, discreet yet effective premium promotion strategy is the SMTP plugin by WP Forms. The only reason I haven’t gone premium with them is I simply don’t need their premium features, yet.
I could go on all day, but I have better things to do.
EDIT: And again, 24 August 2022. Hijacked the main dashboard with another scare tactic ad about some random German court case and if we don’t pay them to run the compliance check we’ll get a €250k fine from a German court.
I know I said earlier I would be finding something else, but now I’m really motivated. I don’t need to pay you guys to tell me whether or not I comply, I already have a lawyer on retainer just for that.
