HOA Website Setup with Private Board Member Area?

Hello!
I have the good fortune to be responsible for setting up my Homeowner’s Association website for our condo community.
I’ve got WP running and have set up the public, static website but I need a separate area where the board members can make posts and comments that the rest of the community can’t see.
I would like the board members to be able to log in, post any content they want, have access to documents they need or post for one another, and also be able to make public posts for the rest of the community which show up on the front page, if they desire.
Since I’m new to WP and websites in general, what would be a simple solution for these basic needs listed above?
