• Hello,
I was wondering if someone can explain the excessive use of !important in your style sheets. I have never seen anyone do this before. What is the reasoning? It makes for a very difficult time customizing. I too have to put !important statements to override.

Is there any way you could remove ALL !important statements please?
Let us dictate what is important on the style sheets?

If so, that would be great! If not, no worries. Your theme. I will manage.

  • I always try to hold off on these forums but every now and then a super smart professor comes along. I am one of those who believe if you want to “Dictate” so much and be smarty, just go write your own theme.

Apart from that, “If so, that would be great! If not, no worries. Your theme. I will manage.”

Well if you the Dr Smart Professor can manage, then what is use moaning on a thread?

This isn’t FB, so I will remain polite, but phew, find another theme if this one bothers you so much, or better yet smartypants, write your own!

    Toodaloo

Oh, and PS: they write Themes so it is easy for everyone to use, not only for smarty pants…

Well my intent was to help, not just be a smarty pants. Well played sir.
My apologies if I came off that way. Not intended.

As for your statements. I am just fine with the theme. Using a lot of important statements isn’t necessary and a very easy fix. I don’t see how the important statements are going to help a developer or user if they don’t know how this all works.

As for creating my own theme, I am not as much of a smarty pants as you are claiming. I too rely on themes others create, however I know how to customize them. Hence my question.

    Which still stands.

    Thanks for the input boombuzzer

    No harm, no foul.

Well it takes a true Smarty Pants to give a proper reply like that ??
Thanks for that, well explained and all is good ??

Your question felt a bit like thrashing which, in this tough market I believe that, especially such a theme being given away for free, the developers deserve a pat on the back and a well done instead. I think you did say thank you, so, awesome!

I am not the law, of course ?? But I enjoy seeing people appreciate work that goes into these themes. If I jumped on the horse a bit early, my apologies but I get a lot of people just simply not appreciated the value of this beautiful and open source framework that we call WordPress.

I myself used this theme last year and even though I ended up settling on another theme, I still find it super cool that these guys provided the theme for free. Coz it ain’t a bad theme but you do have a point ??

    …but alas, I get you..

    All the best!

Lol. like I said, no harm, no foul.

I completely appreciate this theme and it’s developers! No doubt. Wouldn’t be using it if I didn’t and I wouldn’t be trying to make it better if I didn’t.

Using excessive important statements is bad coding. Not to say the devs are bad coders! Not at all. They may have had a temp coder present that created the css and didn’t know how to get things to work and so they just stamped important on it and called it a day. Not sure.

I personally would like to help streamline the css code so the theme loads quickly and smoothly and is customizable for those that know and still works for those that don’t. So I figure the first place to start is removing the important statements and get good clean working code in the theme so it can be the best theme it can be.

Thanks for your input and setting the record straight… ??

Well you have an excellent point there!

Some bugs I experienced is exactly why I didn’t use the Theme…this kind of stuff can only help their Premium version of their sales.

Maybe make a suggestion to give them a clean and bug free version when you’ve finished cooking your version.

I think everyone would like that! ??

Something they could do with, If I remember correctly, their support is kinda slow…but it’s free so, who cares…

But still, let them know.. ??

    Kind Regards.

Yes, it’s all about making the free version worthy enough to want the premium!

When I see bugs, I go into exterminator mode and that’s when I end up here. I never let bugs deter me from at least investigating a theme or plugin if I find it utilizable enough to install. I will always ask devs questions to see if they can be worked out from within, which is always best.

    ??
