• I moved my site from another server and I only have one problem now. when clicking on the HOME button on my header from any page on my website, it comes up and says the page cannot be loaded or found. I looked through all the style.css, index.php and other files but could not find out where it is that points the home button to the home page. I am fairly new at learning wordpress so I am hunting and pecking at finding the answers. The person who was doing my website is difficult to get things done as he is very bud\sy with many other things. Any help out there?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

I am not able to duplicate the issue, however when i click home i do not get redirected at all. First i would double check on your end what is happening after clearing the cache and cookies out of your browser.

Next i would check under appearance > menu to see if the home menu link is being specified there. If so verify its correct.

I have also seen the menu controls under theme options. What theme are you using?

I am just using the starter blog theme. i looked through all the style.css and the index.php along with the page.php and the header and footer.php There is no menu one. I could send you the files if you need it to look at it. If you go to the about us page, and hit the home button, nothing happens til you hit it twicw then it says it cant reload the page. Very irritating. Thank you for your help.

I am not able to get the unable to reload page error, however I am able to see that clicking to the home link from the about us page just appears to reload the same page. Upon reviewing the link structure it appears the home link in the navigation from the about us page appears as such: https://hisloveendures.com/page/about-us/index.php. Your actual home page seems to load up from https://hisloveendures.com/page/index.php if you manually type it in.

This same issue happens on all of the pages, they redirect under this same scheme – https://hisloveendures.com/page/*pagenameyouron*/index.php. They should be redirecting without *pagenameyouron*.

This could be a problem with structure saved in the database or the .htaccess file rewrite rules.

Are you able to post your .htaccess file code (assuming you are on a linux hosting) and provide a copy of your database for me to look at?

@smoothWP? Please do not solicit people to contact you outside of the forums. That’s actively discouraged here so please do not do that again.

That’s not a judgement against you or your motives but don’t do that. You can read more about why that is at this post.

Support Team Update for January 30th

It’s the part labeled “Contacting people off forum”.

I am just using the starter blog theme.

Which theme is that and where did you get it? It may help others provide you with more specific help if you can provide that info.

to Jan Dembowski :I believe the guy who helped me get the website started gave me that theme. It is what it is called in the themes.

to @smoothWP : am not too sure what you mean by the database. I have just moved everything over to network solutions. Are you talking about the files like style.css or index.php? I feel I understand about it being directed to the wrong place. Can you further explain? I can give you temporary access to my admin to the site if needed. I really need to get this one fixed.

    Thank you.

I can give you temporary access to my admin to the site if needed. I really need to get this one fixed.

lt1954? The point I was making was please don’t offer that access nor should other members ask for that access

I know you want to fix your problem but for that level of support is not offered in these forums. If you do need that level of support please consider posting to https://jobs.wordpress.net/

Is that Home button part of a menu? Have you looked at this link?

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/WordPress_Menu_User_Guide

If that menu is customizable then that may help.

@jan Dembowski, I apologize I will not do that again. I was unaware but have read the article you linked, thank you for giving me the warning.

@It1954: The database is where settings, posts, page content and most of your site data is stored. You may be able to find the improper link redirection somewhere in the database.

You may want to have a developer take a look at it, it is most likely not going to be in a php or a css file.

to Jan: My theme does not support the menu option. So it must be located somewhere in the php or css files. I understand the rules of not allowing access to someones site. but can you give a copy of your php and css files to someone so that they may look at it?

To smoothWP : Thanks for your time and help. I believe it is embedded somewhere in those files.

Thanks so much for your help.
