    I deleted the home page hoping to save some time and made a new one. I couldn’t get the site to recognize the new home as a homepage so widgets that are supposed to display, don’t. I restored old homepage, still don’t have menu, calendar or side bar displayed.

    The problem is that it doesn’t recognize the page as homepage. Please help.

    Have you actually set this page as Homepage via Settings – Reading – A static page (select below) – Front Page?
