Our home page link https://www.renaissance-singers.com/ returns a 404 Page not found error, and does this ONLY on Mobile devices.

I have searched all the www.ads-software.com support forums on similar problems and found no solutions. Any help would be appreciated.

I have tested our site https://www.renaissance-singers.com/ on all the major browsers on my desktop and it works fine. We use the standard Twenty Eleven theme with no child themes.

All our other pages and posts work fine on the mobile devices.

Only the home page is 404 page not found when viewing it on a mobile device (my Android’s standard browser, a friend’s iPhone). The favicon does not even appear (our BlueHost hosting service favicon appears instead).

I have tried adjusting our home page Settings > Reading from “recent posts” to “static page” and the error happens using both settings. I’ve re-saved our year-month-title post permalink settings (without changing them).

I have tried disabling all the plugins, clearing the mobile device’s cache and browsing history, and it still happens.

In Google Webmaster Tools it shows nothing wrong with our site.

I have tried installing plugins “404 Redirect” and “WPtouch” and they do not resolve this problem.

It used to work a few weeks ago and I’m not sure what I did that caused this… Recently, I upgraded to WP 3.4.2, got some new plugins and plugin updates … I got the site set up on Webmaster Tools …

  • It almost seems like you have some .htaccess redirecting code that is doing this. You should check the file .htaccess to see if it has code to redirect mobile devices to do this.

At Bluehost, I know one tool that does this, is if you’ve tried the Weebly builder before. It puts in code to redirect mobile sites, in the .htaccess file. If you have used Weebly before wordpress, edit the .htaccess and remove the part about Weebly or mobile devices.

Thank you BH_WP_Guru. That was indeed the problem.

There was a lot of code between the Weebly start and end tags, and I deleted it. Now my site works fine on mobile devices.

Last month, a colleague used the Weebly builder in BlueHost to put up a “site under construction” page. I then installed WordPress in the folder, and after doing some work on the site, I realized that viewers were still being directed to a page created by Weebly, so compared my folder with another fresh install of WordPress, and I deleted the extra files I thought Weebly created. I did not realize that Weebly also edited files.

I hope that is the only problem left due to our former use of Weebly. If there’s anything else I should do to clean it up, let me know.

    Thank you!

I do not have experience with reading code or editing web pages but my company’s site is doing the same thing. Only on mobile devices the 404 error code is showing ( Android, iPhones, Tablets)

How do i edit the .htaccess. Please help
