Home page cached wrongly

  • I have a problem with wrong content saved every time when preload clear the cache. Home will be cache as random tag page and the cache will seems to keep refreshing itself with new tag content when I keep refreshing the page.

    My server set up are as follow.
    Running docker in AWS ECS with
    – 1 x Nginx Docker
    – 1 x PHP-FPM Docker
    AWS Application loadbalancer
    CloudFlare

    I enabled late init to see this in debug. The warning message caught my eye. “Warning! Not writing another page to front page cache.”. This error is caused by?

    I’m not sure what causes that error. It’s an extremely rare bug, but an annoying one which is why I added the “front page checks” settings which caught it.

    It is something to do with how your hosting is setup, but I don’t know what is the cause, sorry.

    I’ve also faced similar issue on two of my websites. Wrong content cached for homepage. I was getting random author archives on homepage. On that site I was using Redirection plugin, and there were just too many regex based redirections. I disabled the plugin, haven’t faced the issue since.

    On the other site, I see search results being cached for homepage, don’t know how it could happen. The homepage had this heading: “Search results > captcha”. When I clear cache and do a search for “captcha” I don’t face any such issue.

    Maybe cache the homepage only when URL value is exactly same as home URL and there is no GET/Post any extra headers or anything. The issue is probably caused by bad bots, making strange requests all the time.
