Installed this plugin on a client’s site that has a carousel that loads in the header (2 slides). When optimization is enabled for the home page, the images on these slides disappear, but the text does appear.

When I disable optimization for this page, the images reappear and everything looks normal. I’m not 100% sure, but it appears that the css scripts are:

    owl.carousel.min.css?ver=5.2.2
    owl.theme.default.min.css?ver=5.2.2

In the trouble shooting section of Pegasaas, I see the following info:

    1. Try change the ‘Defer Render Blocking JavaScript” setting from “Default” to, “Externally Deferred at end of Page”.
    2. If solution #1 does not solve the problem, attempt to disable the “Defer Render Blocking JavaScript” feature altogether.

I haven’t seen any java script related to this carousel but it might be there. Should I consider entering the urls for the css files in the following section of Pegasaas:

settings\css resource deliver\defer render blocking css\exclude css files from being deferred

I know this home page needs optimization so any advice would be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Linda

    Hi Linda,

No, I don’t detect any javascript errors in the cached copy of the page that I suspect you’re talking about. My guess is that the script that was executing the code for the owl slider may have been waiting for an “onload” signal, and the images for the page may not yet have been built. The owl slider initializes in my cached copy of the optimized page.

I recommend re-enabling the plugin — if you’re still having troubles, initiate a support directly at https://pegasaas.com/contact/. We’ll need to see the issue first hand. Once the ticket is initiated, we can initiate a full investigation.

    Hmmm, that’s interesting.

I’ve enabled optimization for the home page. When I open the site in a clean browser, the images didn’t load immediately. After about 20 seconds, the images appeared. Let me monitor this for a while and see how things go. I believe I may have to go with a premium acct for this site, but I wanted to see how things went initially.

    BTW – the site is:

If I have additional problems in this area, I’ll submit a ticket.

    Thank you,

    Hi Linda,

Just looking at the home page in more detail — looks like the way our API is remapping the srcset image paths is incorrect.

Launching an investigation and will report back in the next 30 minutes.

    Sincerely,
    Brandon Devnich

    Hi Brandon

I’m going to go ahead and log a support ticket. I’m seeing some strange things and the owner of the site just called me with something strange that he’s seeing.

We’ll be able to get into more detail in the support ticket.

    Thanks
