I did not think to check how to actually change the url the correct way and did it just by changing the url. I know, not the smartest.

My home page links to my old website url that I had deleted. I tried pastebin and replaced everything that had the old url with the new url and then imported it all back. Now I do have a home page that is just for the new url and doesn’t link to the old one.

However, I have two of every page and one of the home pages still links to the old website.

    1. How do I delete the older version of the pages?
    2. Is there a way I can fix all this?

–I tried seeing if I could get to permalinks from the settings on wordpress, but I don’t think I have that option. I’m using the free version right now.

Here’s my disastrous code for everything: https://pastebin.com/VyD14N23
It’s the most recent though different than the code I imported.

*besides some statistical programming, I don’t have experience with coding

    Hi,

The reason you are having duplicate content is because the import doesn’t remove existing posts and pages.

There’s two ways you can remedy this, the simplest and fastest (but may involve a few minutes of downtime for your site) is to remove all your posts and pages (you can use the bulk action option to remove them all), make sure you delete them and not just put the m in the Trash.
Once they are all removed, run your import again with the correct URLs and all should be good.

The more tedious approach, but won’t involve any downtime is to go over your posts and pages, and look at the ID number (if you look at the address when you go to edit a post or page you’ll see it in the address), the one with the highest ID number is the newest entry, and you can then remove the older entry.
