Very odd, but all of a sudden my home page meta-description is not showing in google search. Instead it is only showing the title of my latest blog post.

I did the All In One security update that was released a few weeks ago, but haven’t updated to 2.1.

Is this a known issue with 2.0.3.1 and would the update fix, or is this unrelated?

I know several months back I had the same issue with an update (not sure which version) as my meta-description was left blank after the update, but given it didn’t delete on this update I’m not sure what to think.

FYI my home page is : https://smellslikeinfinitesadness.com and my meta description should read:

A 40-something’s musings on the current state of music, film and pop culture. Get off my lawn.

Note; If I paste the url of my site in google search meta-desc does show, but if I type it in as

    smells like infinite sadness

it does not. It used to always show up (- the instance I mentioned above).
    Any advice would be great.

    Thank you!

    Michael

    Hi Michael,

All in One SEO Pack is displaying the Meta Description correctly in the source code:

<meta name=”description” content=”A 40-something's musings on the current state of music, film and pop culture. Get off my lawn.” />

If you perform a site search on Google the Meta Description shows correctly:

    site:smellslikeinfinitesadness.com
    Smells Like Infinite Sadness
    smellslikeinfinitesadness.com/?
Nov 11, 2013 – A 40-something’s musings on the current state of music, film and pop culture. Get off my lawn.

Google doesn’t have to display your Meta Description, very often they will generate and display their own description based on the term that is being searched for.
