    Hi there,

I’ve been having this issue for some time. Google has indexed https://polireview.com/ but the result’s description is the Cookie pop up text instead of the meta description I’ve saved through Yoast SEO… Any ideas why, or how to get around it?

    Thanks!

I checked the description shown in Google for your homepage here and it’s pretty short; just a few words. As such, Google is probably expanding out the description with other content from the page.

The description you enter in our snippet preview is a suggestion for Google. If you’ve crafted awesome descriptions for your blog posts, nothing is more annoying than Google showing another description for your site in the search results.

Google’s generation of page description is completely automated. Google’s goal is to best represent and describe each result. They use a number of different sources to get this information. In doing so, they try to make the search results as relevant as possible. Due to this being handled on Google’s end, there is little you can do to force Google to display your preferred description.

We have an extensive knowledge base article which can help you understand why Google is showing the wrong description for your site. Please refer to this article for additional details.
