Home page multiple problems: not able to publish child theme, desired options
-
I’ve read a lot of support posts, but I’m having problems with my home page in Responsive them look right. It’s at: https://daviesuu.org/:
- I have the blog date, author, and comment as if it was a blog page, but none of the other pages do that – only the home page
- I created a child theme which contains a style.css with the code just exactly as codex says to do – I’ve double check spelling, but on the Themes page, I get “The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.” It also says I have a Description theme, but I don’t.
- I have a white background for the content area which looks good in my Firefox, but on my iPod it looks transparent showing the background image behind the text, whereas the other pages show with the white background
Additionally, I would like these features and don’t know how to do it:
- Can I put the search in the menu?
- Can I create a menu that shows up over the top of the banner on the right side that is short for just a few important links?
- How do I change the color of the menu bar to black? I tried `.menu {background-color: #000000;
}` in the Custom CSS Styles but it didn’t work.
Any help would be appreciated.
