I am new to wordpress. I got a domain on hostgator and installed the basic wordpress package. Then I installed responsive theme. I cannot get the home page to change to the responsive theme. There is a sample page and that shows as the responsive theme but the home page does not. In the dashboard it says the theme was installed and active. Not sure where to go from here. I have refreshed the site many times and it still will not change. I dumped temp files on my browser also. Thanks,

ok, figured it out. Being new to all this I watched a video on youtube about installing responsive theme. the author had you change the url to www under settings, general tab. I got rid of the www and now it all works fine.

@gatorman7 – Hi Which youtube video was that? I’m having the same problem. Home is defaulting to page.php instead of home.php. Settings > Reading is set to Home and the content is displaying the home page’s content – it’s just that home and home.php are not one in the same as I thought/hoped they’d be.

    this one here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Jv47_VIBOQ&list=FLVySMNnitc6BYmKPIKRLfqw&index=1&feature=plpp_video

It helped me install the theme but after that I turned to the forums to get help which is really good. The www thing he talks about though didn’t work out.

Is it possible to use the latest Google Content Experiments plugin to do A/B testing on the Responsive home page? If so, how would I go about it? I am new to WordPress and would like to use this theme to test variations for my landing page.

    Thanks

You can try with this plugin.

I looked at this plugin but couldn’t figure out how to use it with the Responsive theme. The plugin displays a drop down to select the pages to use in the experiment but the theme’s home page is not listed in that. The theme assembles the home page using several components. Maybe I shouldn’t use any theme but just build my site using pages?

You can use it on pages I believe, it does not have to be home page. For example create two landing pages like this and go from there ??

@gatorman7 thank you – I wound up reloading the theme and that solved it.
