• Hi ??

I am new to WordPress and trying to set up my first site. I am using the theme Pilot Fish, which I think is great, but I am trying to remove the ‘Home’ page from the menu bar. I have looked at various derivations of how to remove a ‘Home’ page from the menu bar on WordPress, but I haven’t managed to remove it. Could someone please help me to work out how to remove this? I understand that I may need to remove some lines from the code, but I can’t seem to work out which part!

    My website is: https://www.nicophillips.com/

Thanks for your help, in advance, should it arise.

  • To Eutrapelico:

About the header image, I don’t know why either… would you mind creating an account for me on your site, so I can log in and take a look at the problem? Also I can switch the “previous” and “next” on your site for you if you want ??

    Danni and Maria,

we can also switch the background image (trees) under appearance menu, in the background option ??

I will create the account for you, Danni. Where can I send the login and password to you?

    Hi guys.

I tried Danni’s way and it has worked.

Just another thing, what should the size (width x height) of the home-banner.jpg be?

    Thank you!

    To Eutrapelico:
you can email it to me, [email protected]

    To Maria:

    940 x 610 is enough ?? I used a picture that’s 960 x 642

    Danni,

I also noticed that the “think/design/develop” pictures and texts aren’t there any more. I don’t know if it’s related to me adding a header or not. I added a header, but deleted, but it’s still gone.

Also, if there is a fix for the “previous” and “next”to be “West” reader friendly, that would be good.

I wouldn’t mind learning how to do this, but I need a starting point. Thanks,

    Ruth

Danni, I’m also struggling with how to make my url feature the the main page (with the forest image) and have the blog page feature the posts.

In the customization, I can’t seem to figure out which page is the main page. It seems to be the “blog.” But I don’t want the main page to be the blog since it would be under the main image and “think/design/develop” part. I’m not sure if my question is clear, but basically, I want to know how to set the site to have the main page be what someone sees if they go to my url “ruthreynoldscs.com” and then the blog page to feature the posts.

    Thoughts?

    Ruth

Hi, I just discovered your theme and I really like it, Just a few questions:

    – How can I add images or “projects” to the Portfolio? I have tried creating a new category called “project” for the posts I want to include but they don’t show in the Portfolio page…

    – Is it possible to change the fonts and the color for the text?

    – Is it possible to make the header text appear beside the header image and not on top of it?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, Cristina, your questions were my own in the begining of this thread ??
    Danni answered them clearly.

Danni, Ruth and I have the same problem with the “think/design/develop” disappearing after we add an image header to the template. But they do not come back after we remove the image.

Apparently, the code supress the “think/design/develop” lines after an image header is added and removing it will not change the code back.

So, it is not a local issue. ??

    Thanks

    Hi to everybody.

Congratulation for the theme, it’s very elegant.
I’ve choose it to realize my blog about architecture and sustainability: https://arquiq.es/arquitecturasostenible/index.php (now it’s under construction).

I’ve some problems with the title of the main page that can’t stay at the center. I’ve modified the css but, with a relative position, the title goes up into the div. How can I solve that?

Another problem is with the class “center”: I′ve added some words out of the h2 tag, and so the text is distribuited on two lines, and not on one like I prefer. Can you help me?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Eutrapelico,
Thank you for the answer, but I already did what Danni explained for the Portfolio and it didn’t work… Any ideas?
And also, I think my other two questions regarding the fonts and the header are not answered on this thread, if you know the answer, please tell me! ??

    Hi, Cristina.
    Let’s take a look at Danni’s explanations:

First, consider there is not such a thing as a “Project” item at the menu, right?

    So:

    1) To display the portfolio page (as a manu item and to be enabled to show as in the Demo), please create a new page (in the dashboard, under Page item), and set the page template (under the settings options at the right side of the “page” screen, near the other settings) to “Project Archive”

    2) then change the slug to “project” (under the title field, you will have the address for that project page. Change the end to “project”). Or add the custom link “https://yoursitename.com/project/” to your menu.

    3) Go to the Project area, that is much like “Posts” and “Page” options. Write your specifications for your project, specify the title, add images if you like, and write about your project.

To have an image for each project displaying under the projects list (which is now your projects page, as you set up above), add an image (preferably from your own computer) under the “featured imagem” option, on the right bottom side of the “Project” screen (same for Posts and Pages featured images).

If the page still displays an Error 404, you may need to update your “Permalinks” for the page to work. Just go to “Permalinks” under “Settings”, and save it again ??

    Try it ??

    About your other questions:

What text do you mean to change the colors of?

You can add the text “in” the image you will set as a header. Then you will have an image which has also a text positioned as you wish, as a header. ??

    Best regards

    Hi Cristina,
I think I had your same questions about font.
After some investigations I could change the family font using the wp-cufon plug-in.

It’s very easy tu use. Search it on the wp plugins and fallow the tutorials and axamples.
I used my own font and it worked.
Then, if you want, you can modify your tags on the css.

    Very very easy!
    Enjoy it.

Eutrapelico; thank you for the explanation! I didn’t set the images as “featured image” so that’s why they didn’t show on the protfolio! It works now!

Pasky, thank you for the suggestion, I will try the plug-in!

    ??

I have another question; is it possible to center the images in the thumbnails on the Portfolio? Some of my images don’t fill the thumbnail and I’d prefer not cropping them. At the moment the thumbnail shows a gap on the right side and it doesn’t look very nice, but it would be ok if the image was centered so the gap would be on both sides…
