Home Page to show only one of many categories?

Do not edit the Twenty Twelve theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. First create a child theme for your changes.

Once you have your child theme, you will need to create a new template file – front-page.php – in the new theme and begin editing it to add a custom query that only pulls posts from the HiFi Reviews category. Hi many thanks but could do with some very basic help, I have never set up a child theme or altered any coding files.

thanks but I just cannot follow what is needed. can someone give me a very basic how to do this step by step with no additions of if you want to do this or never mind about that.
I really really am a very basic user.

All I want to do is have one category HiFi Reviews as the only category on my homepage.

What files do I need to alter where are they, if I have to create a new file how do I do that.
