Home page willnot load

  • Hi,

    I have a website which will no load, or at least it is very intermittent. My website is antashroofing.co.uk. When I browse to this it just loops and tries to connect, but when I go to antashroofing.co.uk/wp-admin and log in, I can view everything fine.

    I’ve disabled all plugins and set the theme back to default but still I am not getting anywhere. Hope this all makes sense and any help would be really appreciated. Not sure if this happened whilst trying to change the site to use www use Settings > General. I have set everything back to as it was.

  • I tried loading your site using FireFox and Chrome and both worked fine. Perhaps you can clarify if there is a specific browser that is the issue?

    I also tried it on webpagetest.org, and they were able to load the site, too. It’s slow, taking about 10 seconds to load, but it loads. It’s possible your host is closing the connection before the content downloads, or it’s just taking a long time. I notice the top-level domain is UK, but you are hosting the site in the United States. If you are in the UK, too, your load time could be even longer.     Looks like a lot of the slowness is coming from the really big images you have. For example, your mainimage.jpg is 1.7MB in size and takes your host over 3 seconds to deliver. There are lots of free image optimizer sites you can run the image through (I tried one and cut the image down to 182KB with noticeable visual loss). You might want to see about optimizing the images, or even consider a host closer to your target market.
