Homepage doesn't detect language

When visiting the homepage, all content from all languages shows (menus, etc), despite the homepage having set english as it’s language.

The Polylang plugin doesn’t detect the language.

I’ve tried setting detection by content or by URL, nothing works.

Only if I add an /en/ or /fr/ to my URL, then it works.
It should still work on the homepage without this, when I enter just the domain URL.

It works well on all other pages except the homepage.
