Homepage photo image quality

I downloaded your plugin. Thank you for making it available. I have a question. Since I activated your plugin, my photos on the homepage look as if the quality has been reduced. The image after you click through the homepage imageI has better image and that’s what I expect. I am wondering if the plugin is lowering the homepage image quality to get better performance. If so, I’d like to know if there is a way to increase the homepage image quality and what sort of performance impact it might have.
