A long time ago, I had set up my site so that the main page was a tile/grid gallery of thumbnails/featured images, each a link to a page on a specific project. A few months ago, it still worked, but when I happened to check, now the main page just showed a message that nothing was found. I assume the cause had something to do with automatic WordPress updating or plugins no longer working, but sadly I don’t remember how I had it set it up so before the problem so it is hard to troubleshoot.

I don’t think I set it up with the WP Portfolio because I don’t think that was quite possible when I first set things up, and I only have one item there, perhaps when I was trying it out. I think I had set it up that I could make Pages function as portfolio items, because that was where I had items I wanted to appear that way. But I don’t see how to make that happen again. And while I know I had set up images for each item to appear on the grid, no post/portfolio/page item shows any featured image set up.

I have “Portfolio Post Type” plugin activated, and I see it might not work with the current wordpress version, but I can’t tell if that’s what let set it up how I orginally did?

Is there a way to make Pages or Posts function like Portfolio Items? And appear as an image in a portfolio-like grid on the main page? I’d like to just get it back quickly close to the way it used to work a few months ago, at least for the time being, without having to create each thing as a portfolio item.

    Thanks in advance!

  • You reported this same “missing portfolio content” 3 years ago: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/finding-missing-portfolio-content-2/

Back then you were told WordPress has no portfolio feature, so it must have been some addon you installed, like the JetPack plugin.

You activated the JetPack plugin, and according to your own post, the portfolio content came back.

Is it the same “portfolio” you had an issue with 3 years ago? Or have you re-done your portfolio with a different addon since that post?

I had found that post of mine, and thinking it might have been for the same problem I was now having, I made sure Jetpack was working, and I still had the problem. But you have prompted me to look into Jetpack further, and I discovered that I just needed to enable “portfolio” under Writing>Custom Content Types in the Jetpack settings. And that fixed everything! Thank you!
