    Hi,

I’m writing you about the problem that Mailpoet sends out multiple e-mails when a user is subscribed to multiple lists and a post has multiple categories.

I’ve had two developers look at the problem to see if they can build an addon or alter the code to solve this problem until it’s eventually implemented by Mailpoet. But they say that there is no hook to modify email functionality to build from.

Is this hook function something you could add to the plugin if there will not be a solution to the multiple e-mail problem in the near future?

  • Hi @rebah

That’s just the way we decided to implement this functionality. Unfortunately, there’s no hook to disable or change this behavior.

Let’s say you have two Post Notifications set up, one for the “Engines” category and another one for the “Cars” category.

I’m a subscriber of your newsletter and I’m only subscribed to the “Cars” category.

Now, you decide to publish a Post about “Engines”, but this post is also about “Cars”, so you publish this Post in both categories.

If MailPoet worked the way you wanted, if the Post Notification sent to the “Engines” list sends that Post first, I would never have the chance to read about that because the Post Notification for “Cars” will never be triggered.

    Does that make sense?

    Hi there,

To be honest, no it doesn’t make sense. You would just have to check if the subscriber has already received a post notifivation for that specific post id. No? Send. Yes? Don’t send.

A developer could do this for me (quite easily if I am to believe them) if you could just provide a hook they can use.

You say it’s just a choiche Mailpoet has made, but in other topics Mailpoet says something different.

‘Good extensions, but low priority’ https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/good-plugin-but-with-a-few-issues/

‘Discussing if go back to Mailpoet 2 when it was only one e-mail send’ https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/duplicated-post-notifications-with-multiple-sign-up-categories/

If Mailpoet 2 had different behaviour and a hook isn’t possible. Would it be possible for me to use Mailpoet 2 instead? Or would that create other problems?
