HORIZONTAL scroll in WP?

i have been having a bit of a brain freeze wondering if it is possible to have WP insert content (say a series of images or even text and images) in a way that causes the content to scroll /horizontally/ instead of vertically.

is this possible and if so how do i get it to happen?

i mean, say i place an image that is 8 1/2″ tall but very /wide/ is there some difference in behavior in placing this as opposed to an image which is 8 1/2″ wide but very /tall/?

for some reason i am imaging everything i see scrolls vertically.

help?
