• I see that I can shut off comments on a per-post basis, which is excellent for my needs.

I also see the “Comments are closed” line on posts for which comments are turned off.

My question: is there a potential for this to appear rude to the User, who might think, “what respectable blogger would shut off comments on some things, leave them on on others?”

Or is this completely accepted in the blog universe? There are some items to which I don’t want to invite discussion, such as: “Here is what I did on this project.”

And I thought I could render the Comments are Closed tag hidden, but thought that might provoke even more questions in Users’ minds?

Or, I am perhaps way over-thinking this..

    thank you!

  • If you’re concerned, eidt your template files (in a child theme of course), and remove that notice. It’s built into an if() else statement, so it’s pretty simple to get rid of it completely.

And, in my own personal opinion, I do think that you are over-thinking this. It’s more of a courtesty message to tell people that comments on that particluar article/page/etc are not available. If they really want to say something about it they will find other ways… trust me.
