    Good Afternoon,

I would like to stop using the hosting site that I currently use (it’s not needed since I purchased my domain through WordPress.) how can we change this?

is your site hosted at wordpress.com or elsewhere?

It’s hosted elsewhere through hostgator. Someone else set it up for me 4 years ago and I’m wasting money with them, however I purchased the domain from wordpress.

You’ll need to contact hostgator to terminate the hosting. As far as the domain, just don’t renew it the next time it comes up for expiration and it will go away on its own.

Please note that we are not wordpress.com here. Due to the differences between the free hosted blogs offered at wordpress.com and the self-hosted and self-installed version of WordPress supported here, you should probably ask WordPress.com Support instead. That also applies for goods and services purchased through WordPress.com.

So if I wanted this to remain a free blog the way it is supposed to be I would need to contact WordPress.com ?

Today I am attempting to migrate my .org to .com but I am being told the domain cannot be mapped because it is in use and I do not want to lose my domain. I just want to host it on .com
