Host Shutting Down Site Because Of A Script?
-
The last two Fridays at just about the same time, my multi-site network has gone down. I found out today that, it’s because my host has been doing it, they have been renaming my index.php file because they said a script was causing unusually high resource usage.
After being with them for 5 years, they said that I need to upgrade to VPS or dedicated. Ok, I realize I will have to do that at some point. HOWEVER! I have had much higher traffic days in the past without issue. We are getting around 50,000 page views on the network on Fridays for now.
I was gearing up to move our network to VPS then I found some interesting information with other people having similar issues. Since it just started happening two weeks ago, is it possible, I have a PLUGIN that is causing the problem??
I have narrowed down a few and 1 could be the Plugin StatSurfer https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/statsurfer/
I see that plenty of other large traffic blogs are still on shared hosting. Don’t have a problem with switching to VPS if I have to but if we can hold off a little be because it is a plugin causing an issue, I would gladly get rid of that for now.
Thanks for any help on this!
