• I have been using the ACF plugin on numerous websites for a long time. It is by far the best custom field plugin out there, despite several changes of ownership. I’ve been running most of my websites under ACF PRO for years, so I guess I’ve been lucky.

Until this morning I didn’t even know that Delicios Brains had been taken over by WPEngine. I’ve never used WPEngine, it’s totally uninteresting and too expensive for me.

This morning I realized that ACF has been forcibly replaced by a fork of WordPress itself. Forking is of course legal and okay, but the plugin has simply been taken over, along with all the ratings in www.ads-software.com.

Apparently there is some kind of war going on between Mullenberg/Wordpress and WPEngine. It’s obviously all about money, a lot of money. WPEngine apparently pays nothing (which is of course unfair and also not intelligent!).

Therefore the ACF plugin was simply replaced by another “SCF” plugin in the admin/backend, on all websites I manage or own.

All without my consent and also without any information about it !!! I had to look for this information this morning, at first I thought my websites had been hacked.

This is absolutely dubious of WordPress! As a longtime WordPress user I am extremely shocked that something like this is possible!

I will now upgrade all my websites to ACF PRO, I have an unlimited version anyway.

The whole procedure of WordPress shakes my almost boundless trust in WordPress considerably.
