• Hi guys, sorry if this sounds confusing

I have a website that I hosted through netregistry.com.au because that’s where I bought my domain name.

Little did I know, but I only had a 30 day free trial of hosting.

Luckily I was using WordPress and installed UpdraftPlus. Now for some stupid reason, I can’t see any backup file in my google drive even though I got an email saying UpdraftPlus has successfully been linked.

I was wondering if there is somehow a way to retrieve a backup. I’m going to call Netregistry tomorrow to see if they have a backup for me as a last resort.

    Thanks. ??

  • Hi, barney1902,

Did you follow the steps here when you were setting up UpdraftPlus: https://wpbuffs.com/wordpress-backup-google-drive/ ?

Do you recall seeing the “Files backup schedule” and “Database backup schedule” drop-down select button options? If the backups were set to a longer period in between backups i.e. weekly or monthly then depending on the time you set it up, the period of time never likely elapsed and so no backups were generated.

I would contact the host. They may have made a backup or your Updraft backup may be on the server. You’ll likely need to sign up for paid hosting to enlist their help.

Ian, unforunelty I don’t remember seeing those, I am fairly new to WordPress (less than a month of use), I’m guessing i didn’t configure it properly then.

Kenny, yes I was paying the host, so hopefully they have a backup, they open in 30 minutes, so will be calling them.

    Thanks, guys for the replies.
