Hi all. I’ve been facing this problem for a few weeks now and am not sure how to solve it.

So basically I have 3 domains:
    1. ABC.com
    2. BLOG.ABC.com – subdomain
    3. XYZ.com

I need both https://www.abc.com and https://abc.com to redirect to my PhotoShelter site regardless if they type in www. or not, which can be done with CNAME(https://support.photoshelter.com/hc/en-us/articles/203375130-Overview-Setting-Up-Your-CNAME).

Now, I also have a blog.abc.com which will be a WP site.

I also have xyz.com which will also be a WP site.

I have successfully setup blog.abc.com and xyz.com but I can’t figure out how to do the first one which is to redirect abc.com using CNAME. I followed the instructions but it doesn’t work.

I googled my problems but most answers on Google are posted a few years ago and they’re tutorials on GoDaddy’s old hosting interface. They have updated to a new custom “cPanel” and I could not find anything related to the new interface.

    Thanks.
    Zi Yang

    How… is this a Multsite question if abc.com isn’t even WordPress….

Using normal DNS, bare domains cannot be CNAMEs. You’ll need to make it an A record pointing to your servers IP address instead.

@ipstenu, I think “abc.com” and “xyz.com” are placeholder names, not the actual URLs.

@zylai, typically, redirects are done using these steps:
    https://support.godaddy.com/help/article/680/managing-dns-for-your-domain-names

I’m guessing that since you’re hosting on GoDaddy, your domain is registered with GoDaddy as well?

This isn’t the right place for your query, you should try the godaddy forums… But I’ll answer, not sure if cname should be used but you can redirect using .htaccess or you could just putting in an HTML file in ABC.com with a meta redirect tag. Some SEO might tell you to avoid HTML route which is the easiest one but won’t get into the SEO aspects after all this is a WordPress Support forum and not Go Daddy or SEO forum.

ccarfi – I know that, but this is not Multisite:

I need both https://www.abc.com and https://abc.com to redirect to my PhotoShelter site

    PhotoShelter != Multisite

Heck it’s not even WordPress. Which is my point.

I’ve been reading a lot about GoDaddy and WordPress sites. The REALLY negative stuff is 4 to 5 years old. I realize also that https://www.ads-software.com/hosting/ does NOT list GoDaddy. Moderator, without having to start a new post, can you (or anyone) confirm that GoDaddy is still not a good choice? I have to ask because I LOVE GoDaddy with all my non-WP sites, their support is incomparable. Thanks in advance.
