Hi, I want to create a blog to centralize our research in real time with my co-workers. Our IT guy is all for it and has offered server space and setting up a VPN. Can we use wordpress for that in the first place? Will be pay any additional fees for the software?

I appreciate any feedback and look forward to being able to join the community. Thanks.

  • Hello There,
Yes you can very well use WordPress on your local server, just ask your guys to install LAMP on your server, so you can run PHP and have MySQL too. [Stop soliciting work]

Yes you can use WordPress for that. Check out the P2 theme, it’s the theme used on the WordPress development blog and has useful features for collaboration.

Ask your IT guy to check out the documentation on installing WordPress. You’ll basically need a web server, PHP and MySQL. No additional fees are necessary, the download link is on the top right of this page.
