• Hey guys.

I’ve created a wordpress website that is currently running on my rented hosting. The page is for my friend that wants to host it on his own Windows Small Business Server 2003.

I have a complete access to his server.

Can anybody point me to the tutorial how I can set up his server for hosting this website?

I have found this article: https://techgenix.com/web-sites-windows-2003/

But I’m not sure if this has support for PHP and everything need for running this site.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
    E.

It will never work and only ruin and destruction will result in this.

In all seriousness, that article is completely outdated and using Small Business Server 2003 is a really bad idea. You may be able to get WordPress running but you won’t get it using anything on that server by default.

    Give this a read.

    https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-install-wordpress-on-your-windows-computer-using-wamp/

It is possible that your server will not be up to code level to run that, but I do think it’s your best hope.

I’d like to echo @jdembowski in saying that you should never run WordPress on Windows Server – a lot of things dont work and many plugins arent supported. For example, pretty URLs don’t work, for one.

I wanted to chime in because I have a very strong background in IT and Windows Server support.

From what @jdembowski, I didn’t take it as Windows is a bad idea as much as Windows SBS 2003 (or any SBS version) is surely a bad idea! Even Windows Server 2008 is approaching end of life. If you are die hard set on Windows Server (maybe due to necessity) then 2012/2016 Standard edition would be a better choice. Windows Server is great for what it was designed for but it definitely wan not made for hosting WordPress ??

But as mentioned above, if you just want to design/develop locally then use WAMP or my personal choice XAMPP. If you are not already familiar with WordPress, installing on Windows Server will surely just get you frustrated.
